Aluminum is the third most abundant element in the earth crust. Availability of bauxite, the mineral from which aluminum is obtained, is practically inexhaustible.

Bauxite is comprised principally of aluminum hydroxide, silica, iron oxide and titanium. 4 tons of bauxite are used to obtain 1 ton of aluminum.
