Quality System

Quality at an level of excellence is the main attribute and part of CBA trademark. The references and technical standards which guarantee this commitment are supported by the systems adopted and the certifications obtained, issued by international quality organizations.

The CBA quality system is applied to all the industrial processes, covering from the mining of bauxite in their own mines, to transformation into commercial products, with the objective of providing client and user needs integrally, in all the stages of the consumer chain.

The participation of CBA in quality related matters, also, covers the programs of environmental protection and preservation, as well as training, recycling and re-qualification of its professionals, at all levels.

The objectives of meeting the needs and expectations of clients, promoting environmental protection and guaranteeing the integrity of collaborators, has taken CBA to the continuous improvement of its operating system.

Certifications

The CBA quality system has been accreditated in the ISO system, issued by Det Norske Veritas and recognized by RVA – independent certifying organizations recognized internationally; and by INMETRO, main Brazilian organism in the area of quality. Related to the Brazilian Federal Government, it coordinates the certification of products, processes, services and staff.

The quality certificates obtained by CBA cover the following areas:

Rolling

The use of advanced technology and the adoption of rigorous controls on all the production processes allowed the rolling department and Polytype to obtain an ISO 9002 certification of bare and coated aluminum sheets, with a thickness of 0.200mm.

Plates Rolling

An ISO 9002 certification was obtained for the plates rolling department in 1998, perpetuating the quality standard which kept it in the civil construction, transport and consumer goods sectors.
That certification is applicable to the production lines of flat rolled products, corrugated and trapezoidal plates.

Casting

Casting was the first department of CBA to be certified by an ISO 9002 regulation, concluding in an internal process of structural organization and documentation which extended for over two years.
That certification is applicable to the production lines of ingots, billets, wires, plates, caster rolls and granulated aluminum.

Extrusion

In the certification of the extrusion department, in 1999, a complementary requirement (project control) was attributed due to the production particularities (project control) of extrusions.
In that manner, an ISO 9001 certification was obtained for the products line with natural and anodized finishing.

Electricity

With the certification of the quality system, obtained in 1998, the area of wires and cables guaranteed one more differential to its participation in the generation, transmission and distribution of the energy market.
That certification is applicable to the production lines of aluminum cables, with or without steel cores, and electric wires and tapes.
