Piraju
The hydroelectric power plant of Piraju is located in the region of Piraju, southeast of the State of São Paulo, about 300 km away from the city of São Paulo. The 13th power plant of CBA started operating commercially in September 2002.
With an installed capacity of
80 MW, Piraju Power Plant is constituted by two machines
of 40 MW each, which enable an average production of
372 GWh/year. The second unit started its activities
in the middle of October 2002.
The power plant has a dam of 38 m of height, from the lowest point of the foundation, and 637 m of length. Its reservoir has an area of 12.75 km² and a total accumulated volume of 105 millions of m³. It operates with two Klapan turbines, of vertical axis, and two generators.
